The Lewis Cycle and Motor Works produced a number of motor
cars in the early years of the 20th century. The first car, which took to the road in
November 1900, was said to have been "manufactured entirely at the Lewis
works", but it is not known how much local content went into some of the later cars
that wore the "Lewis" brand. George Brooks has
assembled information on nine separate Lewis cars in the period 1900 - 1907, but the total
number built is not known exactly.
